This is the open port guide for the Netcomm NF18ACV NC2-R6B013.EN. We also have the following related guides:

Pick the guide that most closely matches your router.

A NetcommNF18ACV router contains a basic firewall to help protect your home network. A Firewall blocks incoming connections by nature. Sometimes you need to unblock some of these connections so you can run a game or application. This is called opening a port or port forwarding. Port forwarding is literally forwarding a port from the Internet to your home network.

To open ports in your Netcomm NF18ACV router follow the steps below:

  1. On the computer or device that you are forwarding ports to, you will need to set up a static IP address.
  2. Go ahead and log in to your Netcomm NF18ACV router.
  3. Navigate to the Port Forwarding section in your Netcomm NF18ACV router.
    • Click the Setup Port Forwarding link at the top of the screen.
  4. Create a Port Forwarding entry.

If the process of forwarding ports in your router seems difficult to you, you are not alone! Do not get discouraged. Let us walk you through the steps for opening a port in the Netcomm NF18ACV router. Just follow along as we lead you through the process of opening a port in your router.

We think that forwarding a port should be easy. That's why we created Network Utilities. Our software does everything that you need to forward a port.

When you use Network Utilities you get your port forwarded right now!

Setup A Static IP Address

Set up a static IP address in the device that you are forwarding a port to. This is an important step that keeps your ports open even after a reboot, power outage, or other type of device or router disconnect.

  • Recommended - Our free program will setup a static IP address for you.

    → Download Network Utilities today!

  • Or follow our Static IP Address guides to setup a static IP address.

After setting up a static ip address on your devices you need to login to your router.

Login To Your Netcomm Router

In order to login to the Netcomm NF18ACV router you need to use a web browser. The Netcomm NF18ACV router uses what is called a web interface where you can access and control router settings.

Download Netcomm Network & Wireless Cards Driver

Go ahead and open up your favorite web browser. If you don't have a favorite or are not sure what this means, open up Chrome, Firefox, or Internet Explorer.

If this step is confusing, we have simplified it for you with this link: Login to your NF18ACV Router

Find the address bar once you have opened up a web browser. This is usually located at the top of the page, like in the image below.

Download Netcomm Network Password

Look at the screenshot above and find 192.168.20.1 in the address bar. This is your router's IP address (which is sometimes called the computer's default gateway.)

The Netcomm NF18ACV router's default IP address is: 192.168.20.1

After typing your router's IP address into the address bar, make sure to click the enter button on your keyboard. You should see a box similar to the one shown below.

To login, enter the username and password for the Netcomm NF18ACVs. Important Note: If you have changed them in the past, you need to enter in those values.

  • The default Netcomm NF18ACV Router Username is: admin
  • The default Netcomm NF18ACV Router Password is: admin

Once you enter your username and password, click the Login button.

Netcomm Usernames and Passwords

If the username or password did not work check out our Default Netcomm Router Passwords page.

If you are unable to log in even after trying the above list of passwords you may need to consider a reset for your router. Our guide How to Reset a Router can help you with that. After resetting the Netcomm NF18ACV router your username and password will be reverted back to factory defaults.

Find the Port Forwarding Section

You should be on your routers home page once you complete logging in. Find the NAT section on the home page of the Netcomm NF18ACV router.

  • Find the Setup Port Forwarding link located near the top of the screen and click it.

You should now be on a page called NAT.

Create A Port Forward

Opening a port to a specific device may solve problems that you are having on your network. Make sure that it is necessary though, before opening a port, because you are effectively creating a pinhole in the firewall portion of your router that could lead to malicious traffic on your network. The risk is exceedingly low though, so don't let this warning stop you from making this change if you need it.

If you are looking for the ports for a different application you can find it by either:

Download Netcomm Network Admin

  • Browsing our List of Games
  • Check out our our List of Games by Genre
  • See our List of all Applications
  1. In the Port Forwarding section, click the button that says Add.

  2. Choose your internet connection from the Use Interface drop down list.

  3. Create a name for this forward and type it into the Service Name box. Since the name does not have an effect on the functionality of the forward, choose a name that will help you remember why the forward was created.

  4. Choose Enable from the LAN Loopback dropdown box.

  5. Enter the IP address that you are forwarding ports to into the Server IP Address box. It is possible to forward a port to the IP address of your computer or to the IP address of a specific device on your internal network.

  6. Make the Enable selection in the Status drop down list.

  7. To forward a single port, enter the port number into the External Port Start and the External Port End boxes. To forward a range of ports, enter the lowest number in the range into the External Port Start box. Then enter the highest number in the range into the External Port End box.

  8. In the Protocol dropdown box, select the protocol type of the ports you are forwarding. Choose Both if your router has that option. Otherwise, select either TCP or UDP as needed. If you need to forward a port for both TCP and UDP and your router does not have the Both option, then you need to create two entries.

  9. In the Internal Port Start box, enter the same values that you entered into the External Port Start box.

  10. Make sure to click the Apply/Save button at the bottom of the page to apply these changes, when you are completely finished.

Test Your Open Ports

Finally, test your network to see if you have forwarded ports in the Netcomm NF18ACV router correctly. To do this you can use Network Utilities, which includes a free Open Port Checker tool. Open Port Checker is the only online port-checking tool that has Guaranteed Results.
